Thu, 20 December 2007 ![]() Andy and Lee begin the show with the best techno tools they’ve come across in the past year….and 2007 held some wonders. Lee uses Twitter to miniblog his exploits as the Fat Guy on Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy, Andy uses Jott to relay quick reminders and updates to himself and others, Lee and Adam have created the best thing going for those getting in shape and losing weight…and Andy has risen to the top of Google and Yahoo this year, through a new service for $9.95 a month (and has made over $25,000 as a result of using this tool.) We were determined to bring in the New Year with a business boosting bang, so we did a double Business Booster section – and Vanessa Lowry was with us from Profits in Progress (www.profitsinprogress.com) Her company is an interesting and compelling flip side to the explosion of the internet. In helping businesspeople handwrite notes and send via snail mail, she returns the personal touch – and in many cases – the connections and the sales. Featuring three flexible packages, Profits in Progress makes the process easy, fun and instantly appealing. The cards are unique works of art, designed by Lowry, and often adorned with quotes from famous writers, authors or poets. If you’re looking for a unique and effective manner with which to correspond and stand out from the crowd, your search is over. Next up, we were joined by Jason Syzdek, whose company Jaymunda, is beginning the revamp of the Uniqueness is Power website. Going from a straight blog and download site to a more robust, interactive and educational portal type of site will be a huge change to what Uniqueness is Power can offer its listeners. Now, instead of just reading the blog overviews, and downloading shows, users and listeners will be able to access pertinent information, helpful tips and news and even promotional specials. To be included is the dynamic Networking Toolbox, where how to gain the most from your relationship capital is explored – to INeedSomeoneWho.com – a selection tool for the best of the best for various service categories, all based on your needs and input. Look for the new look and feel in Q2 of 2008. We ended our year having some childish fun – keeping it all light at heart and easy going, to be sure. Joining us as Unique of the Week, was Rob Solberg, of Brainwave Studios (www.brainwavestudios.net) and creator of the new Franktown Fun website, stage 1 of an interactive online virtual world for kids 8-14 or so. Franktown is based on the success of Webkins and Club Penguin, but has many more features that should make it stand out. With Guitar Hero 3 and other music based games being all the rage, the fact that Franktown is music intensive, should only help boost word of mouth popularity and near the Tipping Point faster. Next steps include the creation of a soundtrack and band, named “Call Me Harvey and then an animated Franktown TV series. It won’t be long until Franktown is on a computer near you – likely in the living room, if you have kids. This week's show is brought to you by Carroll/White, with hosts Andy Greider and Lee Kantor. Uniqueness is Power is a marketing and business growth show, broadcast live Thursdays 6-7pm eastern, and downloadable by podcast, or RSS Feed. Please send any questions to andygreider@comcast.net. Thu, 20 December 2007 The show starts off with a bit of a bang, as we explore the downside to the social and business networks out there. With many people thinking of Linking out – due to inappropriate or unwanted ads, spam or just the fact you have to be a part of the hive to see the buzz….the reasons are many for a new search being undertaken in making sense of personal search online. Do you recall doing businesses from a dorm room? If you’re as old and Lee and Andy, you may be thinking of certain illegal enterprises. However, in today's world of the internet, Chris Pund and www.dorm-room-biz.com leverage the idea of showing others how to do what he has succeeded at – running a dorm room business. This is a great blog, about the get better as the new look and feel will bring more great info to the forefront and allow students everywhere to set an entrepreneurial foot forward – through cyberspace or in real time in the dorms – with businesses that appeal to almost everyone. From learning how to become an Ebay tycoon to running fan sites with AdSense revenue, Chris has all sorts of great things for students to try. In a world full of security breaches, intrusions, identity theft and more – our Business Booster, Peter Rung is a man with mission. Peter seeks to protect your data and keep the unwanted out. Peter is with ID Rank Security – (www.idranksecurity.com) – and don’t worry – we read it as I Drank Security, too. His company works with businesses to help them encrypt and protect their data – the most valuable part of any businesses lifeblood. From mission critical documents, to proprietary secrets, to customer data lists, he has it all covered, around the world. Speaking of around the world, we were joined by our Unique of the Week, Bishop Clarence Harris – who has a mission to change the world through internet television. This is no small goal, as he hopes to re-teach history, culture and thinking to those willing to learn. Working from the understanding that there is a great deal of current teaching that changes, ignores or manipulates what has happened, Bishop Harris believes his network, DITN – Diversity International Television Network – will help interactively involve the learning public, and show them the way past racism, poverty and other oppression. His goals are huge, but so is his intellect and his passion – listen in to hear more. This week's show is brought to you by Carroll/White, with hosts Andy Greider and Lee Kantor. Thu, 13 December 2007 Our Business Booster was Jeff Haynie, of Appcelerator (www.appcelerator.com) – the home of More App, Less Code. Haynie was fresh off the announcement of JBoss founder Marc Fleury, as a new advisor and was extremely excited about where his company is headed. Working in the SOA space, his open source code is available to enrich user interfaces, increase speed and usability and make software more enjoyable to use. Having developers on staff who can work within this open source framework can deliver better offerings to your customers, better products to your clients and better functioning tools to your staff. Our Unique of the Week was Rob Franta with the Reverse Funnel System – an invention of cyber-warrior, Ty Coughlin. Coughlin’s invention comes from the idea of an upside down funnel. In normal business models, the top of the funnel is thick and wide, and accommodates a large amount of the flow. In the reverse funnel – the prospects are vetted and carefully chosen and only a few make the “hole at the top. From there, those who show the interest and needed fortitude and aptitude are chosen. Franta explained how this system works and brings people in that actually do the work and how to funnel expands on the lower end, instead of the top. Interesting, to say the least. Thu, 6 December 2007 ![]() This week Andy and Lee were joined in the studio by Elizabeth Gordon, of Flourishing Business, who went over a very cool Top 9 list of the things a business needs to do to flourish and not just create a bigger job for the owner. Flourishing means being able to run on its own and thrive without the owner or a key employee for a period of time. Gordon’s methods may sound familiar to those who have read books like Tim Ferriss’s Four Hour Work Week – but Gordon was there first, developing and promoting her own model – in the form of a flower – years ago. As Business Booster, Michael Wilkes of Dynamic Answers was the featured guest. Known as the Disambiguator, Wilkes takes complex software and technology issues and breaks them down into a blueprint – making sure things happen right the first time. In the business of preventive maintenance, Wilkes “measures twice, cuts once – and helps companies do so, as well. His ROI as a Business Booster is hard to measure, because not only does he save the cost of a second re-do project, but he also saves sanity, frustration and anger – quite intangible and as they might say, priceless… Unique of the Week, Adanna Hartwell and Keisha Duck own a Dream Dinners franchise. Can you believe that for the low low price of $250 or so a month, you can spend a few hours one day and prep almost all the meals your family will need – meals that can be on the table in about 30 or so minutes. With a lemon chicken specialty favorite, Dream Dinners hooked Hartwell as a customer first, and then the unique model drew her into ownership soon thereafter. Operating in the 30075 and 30076 zip codes around Atlanta, she joins myriad other Dream Dinner owners in helping parents thrive in a busy society and balance work and home to make more time for the things that need done outside the kitchen.
